The Dream Home was designed to bring the beauty of the outdoors into the house, with a huge open porch in the center, living quarters designed to be all on one level, and a recreation area downstairs. The upstairs level is devoted to spacious guest quarters as well as a library and a suspended walkway connecting the different sections of the house.
The color also helps bring a sense of calm to an active, life-filled room. From a section filled with lounge chairs to a fire pit area with a round couch, the back terrace has several seating areas. With landscape architecture from Designs by Sundown, the dreamy yard not only has a full outdoor kitchen, but it also features a waterfall and natural stone bridge to play into the surrounding landscape. "The design of the HGTV Dream Home 2023 is rooted in the history and landscape of Morrison," he says. For the 2006 Dream Home, HGTV selected the resort community of Grey Rock, located on the shores of Lake Lure, North Carolina.

That charm is reflected in the design of the Dream Home, which includes three elegant porches and a light and airy interior design. The 2002 Dream Home is located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, overlooking the beautiful and bountiful Chesapeake Bay, famous for its crabs, scallops, and fish. The Dream Home has three fireplaces, a sweeping waterfront deck, and even a miniature version of the home for the family dog in the backyard. The 2004 Dream Home was built in St. Mary's, Georgia, which many believe to be the second-oldest city in the United States. Located on the Georgia coast, not far from Jacksonville, Florida, this home takes full advantage of its waterfront location with amenities like a boat dock, a screened veranda, and a four-story tower room. HGTV, who tricked the winner into thinking that a friend had won in order to surprise her with the big prize, has pictures of her reaction to the win on their website. Jeff credited his win to entering twice a day nearly every day, thanks to the help of email reminders from HGTV. "I didn't think it was true.
